Surf Ranch Hotel & Resort in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, was first established in 2009 by Canadian brothers Lucas and Travis Boychuk. This unique resort combines action sports with luxurious accommodations on a picturesque 2-acre property. Nestled beside the San Juan River at the edge of the jungle, it features the largest skateboard park and water slide in Nicaragua, along with amenities designed for relaxation and recreation.

Located in San Juan del Sur, the resort is less than 3 km from downtown and is the closest resort to southern surf beaches. Guests can access the resort either by driving from the Pan American highway or via an airport shuttle from Managua International Airport. My stay at Surf Ranch Resort was full of ups and downs. While the ambiance and pool area were lovely, the service left a lot to be desired, especially regarding our reservation mix-up. The food was hit-or-miss and definitely not what I expected for the price we paid, but the room was comfortable overall. There’s potential here, but they need to address a few noticeable issues.

My stay at Surf Ranch had its highs and lows. On the positive side, the location felt like a hidden jungle oasis, and the vibe was energetic with music and activities. However, the service was inconsistent, and the overall experience fell short of expectations, especially regarding room comfort and value for money.
